In attendance we had staff from Keystart (Dorothy Rodney & Craig Glew) Indigenous Business Australia (Graham Edmonds) and Commonwealth Bank (Brooke Thomas). There was a great turnout with the general feedback being that the evening was a success and enlightened the path to Home Ownership in a broader context. doreen_hart“I want to spread the word that leadership is essential for us to take control of our lives and that good leaders take advice.” Doreen Hart joined Wunan as Community Development Officer for Living Change in Halls Creek on 17 April 2013. Doreen is a Binthi/Bulcan woman from the Cape York community of Hope Vale. Doreen comes from a big family, with four older brothers and three sisters, although she lost her eldest sister six years ago. Doreen has four grown children, ten grandchildren and a large extended family. Her youngest sister, two nieces and one of her grand daughters are living with her in Halls Creek. Doreen has over twenty years experience in community engagement, including in the areas of employment, enterprise development, health and housing. My other passions include music and art, concentrating mostly on sculpture. ekjp_logoWunan has been awarded the Remote Jobs and Communities Program for the two regions comprising the East Kimberley, in joint venture with East Kimberley CDEP. After a protracted period of submission and negotiation the award was made in April 2013, with commencement due July 1st. With very compressed timelines for implementation, staff are now working feverishly to establish the new organization and ensure job seekers receive a seamless and quality transition from previous providers.   Read More
