Wunan finalises submissions for two key reviews

30 April 2014

Wunan seeks to be at the forefront of all issues affecting Indigenous policy. To that end, we’ve recently finalised submissions for two key reviews.

In December mining magnate Andrew Forrest and the team he’s leading to carry out the Indigenous Jobs and Training Review, visited Kununurra and met with Wunan to gain its insight into Aboriginal employment in the East Kimberley. Our leadership group was able to share what we believe are the challenges and obstacles as well as the areas in which we believe success is being experienced.

In addition to the meeting, Wunan followed up with a written submission for the taskforce.

In January Wunan also contributed to the review into the structures and operations of the Indigenous Land Corporation (ILC) and Indigenous Business Australia (IBA).

Wunan emphasised to the Federal Government its view that the two organisations continue to operate as separate entities in order to best serve the economic interests of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

As always Wunan is focussed on practical outcomes for Aboriginal people.
