Welcome Back to Our First Newsletter of 2025!
The year is already off to an exciting start for Wunan, with significant milestones paving the way for an impactful 2025. We kicked off the year by welcoming the Hon. Malarndirri McCarthy and the Hon. Dr. Anne Aly for the official launch of Connected Beginnings, a program designed to strengthen early childhood education for First Nations children in the East Kimberley.
We’re also thrilled to be part of a community-led advisory board supporting the launch of the new Regional University Study Hub in Kununurra. Additionally, Wunan has been awarded funding under the Aboriginal Employee Housing Grants Program, a major step forward in providing more affordable rental options for Aboriginal employees in the region.
Meanwhile, the school holidays were filled with excitement as our Talent Pool Academy team, in collaboration with WA Police, hit the road to bring laser tag fun to kids across Halls Creek, Balgo, Warmun, and Wyndham. We’re also excited to see the recently renovated Lily Lagoon Resort Kununurra ready to serve the community, with a growing hospitality team offering a variety of delicious eats and treats.
Looking ahead, we're excited to see the Kununurra Withdrawal Intervention Centre fully activated, offering vital support to those in need. We're also preparing to welcome a group of young girls on the Bedford Downs Stock Route Walk, which promises to provide at-risk youth with a culturally safe journey of healing and reconnection to Country. And we're eagerly anticipating the launch of the Growing Strong Roots for Strong Futures Early Learning Centre.
With our ongoing work in housing, health, education, leadership, and community services, Wunan is charging full speed ahead into another year of impact and opportunity. We appreciate your continued support and look forward to walking this journey with you!
