Each year, these awards recognise our outstanding teams or individuals for their contribution to the work, values, and culture of Wunan. Their dedication to Wunan’s core strategic pillars - education, employment, healthcare, leadership, commerce, and housing - is evident in our achievements.
All our recipients received a Yeti with their name engraved commemorating their achievements, a professional development opportunity, and the choice of an overnight stay at Lily Lagoon Resort or a paid day off, in addition to a $100 gift card to a restaurant or store of their choosing.
This year's winners are:
Steve Ransley
Steve has been a solid performer as Manager of Wunan Maintenance Service (WMS) for several years. Steve is a committed and respected manager of a large and diverse team within the Wunan family. Steve is reliable, present, and always willing to go the extra mile when requested.
The care and mentorship Steve provides to the WMS staff is a credit to his character. He has a desire to train and develop the team on their employment journey, and I know firsthand how much they all appreciate his leadership and guidance (and sometimes his Welsh humour!)
Lew & Kaz Penny, KEEP House Parents
Their long-term (approximately 6 years) and outstanding contribution to the work and values of Wunan. Lew and Kaz regularly go above and beyond to provide around-the-clock support for up to 13 KEEP students on an ongoing basis while fostering a deep sense of care and community.
The fact that different generations of families have sent their children to the KEEP program is a testament to the work and commitment of Lew and Kaz. Continuing to do their work outside of Kununurra presents several additional challenges for them and their team, which they handle with professionalism.
Derek Rivers
Working well within the community to support Halls Creek families and, very importantly, improving their children's school attendance.
Kevin Thomson
Kevin Thomson demonstrated exceptional leadership in leading the Corporate Services team to make substantial progress in human resources functionality and interactions, Work Health and Safety, Compliance and Risk Management, and Integrated Management Systems. Kevin developed an outstanding presentation for the Board, clearly highlighting key responsibilities and risks and outlining the way forward aligned with the strategic plan.
Shay Wilson
Shay Wilson, in recognition of her dedication and hard work with the Cultural Safety Committee and Human Resources.
Tracey Elliott
Tracey Elliott, in recognition of her seamless integration into the Corporate Services Team, as well as her dedication and attention to detail with her compliance work.
Claire Wimbridge
Claire Wimbridge, in recognition of her significant contributions to the development of Compliance and Quality systems.
Shaun Cox
Sri Nagarathnam
Sri is good at talking to clients in a professional, polite, and patient manner. He is always looking for ways to get more income streams for iBase and introducing new clients to iBase. He is always encouraging the young accountants to start and complete their CPA, and mentoring them along the way.
He always goes above and beyond what is expected of him. This was noted by Warmun A/CEO Aisyah Waterman, see testimonial.
Daniel Gaffney
Showing exceptional leadership across the establishment of the Community Services portfolio and teams, making great inroads with establishing the new Target 120 program in Halls Creek, and also seeing the Key Assets contract through to completion.
For the support provided to Elise in transitioning to the role of GM Community Services and making a smooth transition to Commercial Services and all things construction and Lily Lagoon! For continuing to succeed in getting the job done, despite challenging circumstances!
