Bedfords Downs Stock Route Walk Award Ceremony

Wunan is incredibly proud to celebrate the participants of the inaugural Boys Group Bedford Downs Stock Route Walk, who have just returned home from their five-day adventure along the historic trail.

'The walk', which took place along the storied Bedford Downs Stock Route, offered the young participants a chance to connect with the land and learn from local elders and community leaders who joined them on the journey. The route provided a unique backdrop for the boys to challenge themselves physically and mentally, while also fostering deeper cultural connections.

Upon their return, the participants were greeted with a congratulatory ceremony at the KNX Community Hostel. The event kicked off with a welcome to country, before the Wunan Media team presented on the outcomes and achievements of the trip, which included certificates and a pair of boots being awarded to each of the participants.

All the community stakeholders and participants involved enjoyed a delicious dinner to wrap up the evening, allowing everyone to unwind and enjoy the camaraderie that had been built throughout the journey.

The success of this inaugural event was a fantastic result, and our team will be looking at ways in which we can not only continue but grow the initative in the future to give more at-risk children the experience and support offered by such a unique adventure.  We are also looking forward to the upcoming girls group, who are scheduled to depart on a similar journey in early 2025.
