The Wunan Foundation is proud to announce that we have been awarded funding through the Cook Labor Government's Aboriginal Employee Housing Grants Program, which is part of the $200 million North-West Aboriginal Housing Fund.

This funding will enable us to build new housing units in the East Kimberley, providing much-needed affordable rental options for Aboriginal employees.

The ACCO Aboriginal Employee Housing Grants Program aims to boost housing supply in the Kimberley and Pilbara regions through new builds, spot purchases, and the refurbishment of existing homes. Wunan Foundation is one of six Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) to receive funding, alongside Walalakoo Aboriginal Corporation, Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation, Djarindjin Aboriginal Corporation, Kimberley Aboriginal Law and Cultural Centre, and Robe River Kuruma Aboriginal Corporation.

Housing Minister John Carey highlighted the significance of this funding, stating, "Our Cook Labor Government has delivered $10.44 million in grants to six credible Aboriginal Controlled Community Organisations to boost and refurbish housing across the Kimberley and Pilbara regions."

Kimberley MLA Divina D'Anna added, "We all know a safe and secure home provides stability, safety and connection to community and is at the core of improving a person's overall wellbeing. This funding will enable those employees to improve their income and financial wellbeing as they are supported by their employer to achieve their career goals."

We extend our congratulations to the other successful ACCOs and thank the Cook Labor Government for investing in practical housing solutions that directly support Aboriginal employees and their families.
