Wunan Foundation is a leading Aboriginal development organisation based in the East Kimberley. Its purpose is to ensure that Aboriginal people in the region enjoy the capabilities and opportunities necessary to make positive choices that lead to independent, fulfilling lives.

Kimberley Business Support (KBS) is one of Wunan’s successful social enterprises who provide bookkeeping, accounting, payroll, grant management and other critical back-office services to external clients.

KBS is seeking an experienced and qualified accountant to support it’s growth plans beyond East Kimberley. Living and working in the remotest part of WA and serving the most disadvantaged communities and organisation’s is a very unique challenge. Hence, in addition to the technical skills, excellent customer service, high-level of interpersonal skills and the ability to adjust to outback lifestyle is also critical to succeed in this role.

We are looking for candidates who possess highest level of integrity, a great can-do attitude, with a positive outlook and genuinely want to make a difference to Aboriginal lives.

Reporting to the KBS Manager, your duties would include:

  • Producing monthly management reports, including grant reporting
  • Presenting financials at board meetings
  • Providing financial reports to grant-funding bodies
  • Supervising team members and providing guidance
  • Preparing payroll, AR, AP, reconciliations
  • Preparing budgets for clients
  • Providing business advice to clients
  • Lodging BAS on behalf of clients
  • Liaising with variety of external stakeholders on client’s behalf

Applicants are expected to demonstrate their skills and experience in areas mentioned above. Please note that a CA /CPA or other equivalent qualification in Accountancy is essential for this position. Also candidates should be prepared to live in Kununurra for at least 02 years closely working with indigenous organisations and people to build capacity.
