Wunan Welcomes New CEO

18 July 2019

Wunan recently welcomed their new CEO on board, Mr Viane Watson replaces former CEO Jim Lewis after health issues saw him tender his resignation in late 2018.

Mr Watson has arrived in Kununurra with a diverse professional background which includes local government, health, bodies corporate (Strata), indigenous incorporations, the education sector and running and managing his own international business.

Having previously spent time in the West Kimberley town of Fitzroy Crossing, whilst working for the Kurungal Council, and in the Central Desert region of the Northern Territory whilst working for the Lajamanu Community Council, Mr Watson is acutely aware of the challenges Aboriginal people face when it comes to embracing the opportunities their non-Aboriginal counterparts in regional and remote Australia take for granted.

Mr Watson holds a post graduate Diploma in Management and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, and describes himself as a generalist manager who specialises in governance, board relations, human resources, change management, education and finances.

Wunan looking forward to re-affirming its relationships with partners in the East Kimberley and elsewhere over the next six months.
