Workforce Development Centre Media Competition Winners

5 December 2012

After working closely with numerous mainstream, alternative and remote education providers together with local industry in the East Kimberley region, the East Kimberley Workforce Development Centre identified the need for a School Based Career Program. A program was developed to accommodate the social and academic diversity of students and industry in the local region, with the primary focus being to deliver a valid Career Development program that meets both education and industry needs. Partnerships were forged and commitment was made with educators and industry. Career Development information was explored and gathered by young people in scheduled classes, then each school group visited a workplace for an industry visit where they recorded video footage of their experience. After editing their footage, each school group competed against one another for a $1,000 prize which was kindly donated by Wunan and Waringarri Radio. The winning school was Halls Creek District High School who visited the Kimberley Grande, Skywest and Waringarri Radio.
