Transitional Housing

30 March 2015

As we learnt in the last Newsletter, the Transitional Housing Program has been rolled out to Halls Creek! Housing includes:

1)      15 Houses in Halls Creek that was built for Transitional Housing

2)      8 Houses; 3 & 4 bed room have filled in Wilkinson Street, Hall Creek.

3)      7 Houses;  1 & 2 bed room is currently being built in Smith Street Halls Creek.

It was advised recently that approval has been secured for a further five applicants. Joanne Coleman from the Department of Housing says “What an outstanding achievement for Deb and her team!”

One of the tenants commented “There is a difference between a house and a home.  To know that me working as a main provider and having so much financial strain when looking for an ideal home for my family was going to be an issue.. But I was gratefully blessed by this opportunity. This shows how much I achieved by working and providing for my family. To be in a stable comfortable, spacious and affordable home is a true privilege.
My son has his room all set up… This also means he has enough room to run around and play in.
It’s taken a big stress factor away for me now that we have a home to call our own.
Now that I have achieved this milestone I now have other goals for the future.”

We look forward to many more stories like this from Halls Creek.
