Transitional Housing Program Partnership

16 February 2015

Wunan Foundation’s, Transitional Housing Program would like to take this opportunity in thanking their partnership sponsors National Australia Bank Limited and the State Government’s Royalties for Regions Aboriginal Community Critical Response Fund (ACCRF) for the funding commitment for the Indigenous Money Mentors Position.

With the help of both these organisations Wunan’s Transitional Housing Program’s Indigenous Money Mentors Position is established to help the Indigenous people of the East Kimberley.

Although funded and supported by NAB’s Indigenous Finance and Development Team, Indigenous Money Mentors (IMM’s) are independent. They are hosted in a Community Partner organisation and they provide financial counselling and support however they do not provide mainstream banking products nor do they provide financial advice on investments or insurance.

The Indigenous Money Mentors Program gives the Kimberley communities a greater understanding of budgets and gives financial support to help them development the understanding of a better life for their families and their communities.

Wunan Foundation is the host for this project and the program is much needed Indigenous Communities of the East Kimberley because of the empowerment Indigenous clients get from the program.

It is with great pleasure that the Transitional Housing Program works with the Indigenous Money Mentor for the Indigenous Communities by building a client base service for the Indigenous people.

This program is growing and maintaining a wide Community base for the Kununurra Indigenous Communities and the wider regions of the East Kimberley as well.

Once again we would like to acknowledge the support of two wonderful organisations National Australia Bank Limited and the Department of Regional Development, through ACCRF, for helping us to empower the Indigenous Communities in the East Kimberley’s.
