Spotlight on Wunan Staff: Gabi Ah-Won

11 June 2015

Gabi is Wunan’s hard-working Office Administrator – she’s the friendly face you see at reception.

Gabi grew up in the East Kimberley and, having worked at Wunan for just on four months, she says she’s finding the job challenging and interesting because she has so many different tasks to complete each day.

“The thing I enjoy most about working at Wunan is being surrounded by so many fantastic people, who all give me an opportunity to learn something new every day,” says Gabi.

She is keen to continue developing her skills and has just enrolled in a Certificate III in Business at Kimberley Training Institute.

“It’s exciting to be studying and I’m really looking forward to learning as much as I can about business and administration through the course, so that I can apply it at work,” she says.

Gabi is one of many local Aboriginal people who have benefited from Wunan’s Transitional Housing Program, having moved into a Transitional House in Kununurra with her 18-month-old daughter just over a month ago.

Gabi is keen to study at university one day and also to eventually own her own home – somewhere that she and her young daughter can call home.
