Spotlight on Staff – Nathalie Ishiguchi

14 December 2015

A Career Advisor with Wunan’s Workforce Development Centre in Broome, Nathalie was born in Derby, WA, and moved to Broome as a young girl. She is a Karajarri woman and her mother’s people are from Bidyadanga Community.

Nathalie provides advice to people about how they can develop their careers, or change career direction, and she particularly enjoys engaging with young people during workshops and activities in local schools.

“It’s great to talk to young people about their options, encourage them to think about their future and understand what they need to do to overcome barriers and grow to their full potential,” she says.

Nathalie says she appreciates the opportunity to work for an Aboriginal organisation in the Kimberley, where she was born and bred.

“Wunan has a great diverse team, is very supportive of its employees and provides many opportunities for staff to grow and develop in their roles,” she says.

In recent years, Nathalie’s commitment and hard work have seen her complete Certificates in Career Development and Employment Services, while working full-time, being a mother to her three children and caring for her niece.

Nathalie’s hope for the future is to be able to buy a home for herself and her young family.
