New CEO for Wunan

Wunan Chairman, Ian Trust, has announced the appointment of Christian Zahra as new CEO for the organisation.

Until recently a Director of KPMG’s Strategy Group, Christian has had extensive experience in senior roles in both the private and government sectors and has served previously as a Chief Executive Officer in an Aboriginal Health and Housing service in regional Victoria. Christian has also served in several leading public official roles including as Chairman of the Federal Government’s $1B Regional Development Australia Fund Advisory Panel and six years as a Federal MP representing a regional electorate.

Ian Trust said Christian will bring a new perspective to Wunan and our future direction. The Wunan Board is keen to work with him to achieve outcomes for Aboriginal people of the East Kimberley.

Christian said ‘Wunan is an organisation with a well deserved reputation for doing important work that is having a real impact in the East Kimberley. I’m excited about the opportunity to work with the local community, the Wunan team and our government and corporate partners to try to accelerate the impact than Wunan is having and drive real improvement in the lives of local Aboriginal people’.

Ian Trust also thanked outgoing CEO Nick Thomas for his contribution ‘Nick’s done a great job for us and we’re sorry to see him go and know he’ll remain a great supporter of Wunan. We wish him every success in his future endeavours’.
