Manager – Financial Wellbeing and Housing

Wunan’s purpose is to ensure that Aboriginal people in the East Kimberley enjoy the capabilities and opportunities necessary to make positive choices leading to independent and fulfilling lives. Essentially, to have dreams and a real chance of achieving them.

To achieve this, Wunan has developed initiatives in strategic priority areas such as education, employment, family and child support services, financial well being, housing, health and governance.

Wunan seeks a person who has a positive attitude and commitment to its social change and economic participation mission.

The overall purpose of this Manager Financial Well-being and Housing position is to strategically lead, manage and professionally develop Wunan’s capacity to achieve and sustain our purpose, within the related areas of financial capability, stable tenancy and pathways to home ownership. Previous knowledge, skills and experience working in these areas will be highly regarded. The intent is to help build stronger families and good homes as a source of nurturance and support.

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Experience managing and leading a team of people to achieve specific results and strong ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated skills in managing systems and processes to manage and deliver outcomes.
  • Good communication and relationship skills.
  • Ability to work effectively to achieve common goals with a range of partners and stakeholders, including government, NGO, business and community.
  • Demonstrated service management and budgeting skills
  • Commitment to quality improvement.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous culture and the issues/challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
  • Experience working effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.


  • Indigenous Australian.
  • Familiarity with relevant programs and services
  • Demonstrated understanding of the financial wellbeing and housing services, both locally and at a state and national level.
  • Service management experience.
  • Willingness to participate in further education or training.
  • Experience in a Case Management environment.
  • Recruitment experience.
  • Group facilitation and/or training experience.
  • Experience working within a compliance framework.

Other Qualifications:

  • Formal qualifications in a relevant area such as financial counselling or financial planning be highly regarded but are not essential.
  • Current drivers licence.
