KEEP Expands to Perth

23 June 2017

The Kimberley Educational Excellence Program (KEEP) has been extended to Perth. Officially launched on the 4 March, the event was marked with a traditional smoking ceremony conducted by Noongar elders, the traditional custodians of the Perth area.

The expansion significantly increases the scholarship positions we hold with the total number of students currently enrolled being at 50. Students hail from all over the Kimberley including Kununurra, Broome, Kalumburu, One Arm Point, Beagle Bay, Derby and Fitzroy Crossing.

Schools attended by students include Trinity College, Mt Lawley Senior High School, Aquinas College, Belmont City College and Aranmore Catholic College. They’re supported by experienced and dedicated House Parents including Meg McGuire in Subiaco, Lew Penny at Kewdale and Heidi Mippy at Mt Lawley.

“Expanding the scholarship program to Perth has been challenging but very rewarding as we can now offer a high quality educational experience to more students from the Kimberley”. KEEP Coordinator, Hannah Chapman.
