Transitional Housing program goes from strength to strength

After taking out the Premier’s Award for Excellence in 2013, Wunan’s Transitional Housing program continues to go from strength to strength. In recent weeks, the program has undoubtedly experienced its most exciting time since inception.

It is with a great deal of pride that we can announce our very first homeowner – Ms Evelyn Wilson.

Evelyn’s story is a remarkable one. It is a testimony to her commitment to the program, and testimony to the fact the program does work if our clients are prepared to take the journey.

As a single mother, Evelyn struggled to believe she could ever own her own home when she first met with the Transitional Housing team 18 months ago. However, with solid guidance and plenty of encouragement, her belief began to grow and what was once a dream – is now reality! It will only be a matter of days before she collects the keys to her new home. Adding to the excitement, three more clients have had pre-approval for finance, and in the near future will also be able to all themselves homeowners!

ABC TV’s 730WA program recently spent time in the East Kimberley and were even on hand to capture the emotion as Evelyn was told her offer on her preferred house was accepted.
