Wunan Foundation are a 100% Indigenous owned for profit organisation based in Kununurra WA.  Wunan’s purpose is to ensure that Aboriginal people in the East Kimberley enjoy the capabilities and opportunities necessary to make positive choices leading to independent and fulfilling lives. Essentially, to have dreams and a real chance of achieving them.  To achieve this, Wunan has developed initiatives in strategic priority areas such as education, employment, family and child support services, financial wellbeing, housing and governance.  Wunan is seeking an experienced HR professional to support Wunan in delivering its strategic priorities.

Working closely with the CEO you will be providing the business and its managers with HR support.  This will include developing a strategy for establishing a continuous improvement culture.  You will review, develop, implement and maintain a performance management system and garner support from managers to ensure it is successfully implemented.  You will implement and manage successful induction and recruitment processes.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Working with the managers, aligning vision, mission, values and strategic objectives with position descriptions and allocating KPIs for their team;
  • Collaborate internally to address people and culture needs, and leverage the opportunity to coach managers on best practice;
  • Resource planning such as conducting an employee  skills matrix;
  • Staff surveys which will strengthen the continuous improvement culture journey;
  • Ensure HR policies and procedures are reviewed,  maintained and embedded within the organisation;
  • In conjunction with administration, ensure staff records remain compliant and are maintained with integrity;
  • To review, improve, develop and maintain all new and current employee contracts whether they be individual, collective or award situations;
  • Adhere to work place health and safety responsibilities including policies, operating procedures and instructions.

Essential Criteria:

  1. Must hold a HR Qualification and have at least five years’ experience in Human Resource management;
  2. Demonstrated experience in initiating, leading transformational change in a complex environment;
  3. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement a performance management system successfully;
  4. Experience working with Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people and having an understanding of their culture is desirable;
  5. Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and to take responsibility for own actions as well as a commitment and capacity to work effectively in a team environment.

The successful applicant must have:

  • A current Working with Children Check (WA)
  • National Police Clearance
  • Valid WA Driver licence
