Wunan and its partnership broker network calls on the Commonwealth Government to continue the School Business Community Partnership Program due to the productive and outcomes based  partnerships developed over the last three years. Wunan has delivered the program in the Kimberley region, facilitating the development of some great partnerships that support youth attainment and transition. A loss of this funding will create a significant gap  in brokering partnerships that address the issues preventing young people from successfully completing Year 12, and transitioning successfully into employment.   Read More.

doreen_hart“I want to spread the word that leadership is essential for us to take control of our lives and that good leaders take advice.” Doreen Hart joined Wunan as Community Development Officer for Living Change in Halls Creek on 17 April 2013. Doreen is a Binthi/Bulcan woman from the Cape York community of Hope Vale. Doreen comes from a big family, with four older brothers and three sisters, although she lost her eldest sister six years ago. Doreen has four grown children, ten grandchildren and a large extended family. Her youngest sister, two nieces and one of her grand daughters are living with her in Halls Creek. Doreen has over twenty years experience in community engagement, including in the areas of employment, enterprise development, health and housing. ekjp_logoWunan has been awarded the Remote Jobs and Communities Program for the two regions comprising the East Kimberley, in joint venture with East Kimberley CDEP. After a protracted period of submission and negotiation the award was made in April 2013, with commencement due July 1st. With very compressed timelines for implementation, staff are now working feverishly to establish the new organization and ensure job seekers receive a seamless and quality transition from previous providers.   Read More.
